Around Lighthouse, we keep the main thing the main thing. The main thing that we believe ought to take place in the House of God is the preaching of God's Word! Therefore, the main ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church is to preach God's Word.
We pick up children and adults of all ages throughout Waterloo, Oelwein, and surrounding areas and bring them to God's House to each service. If you would like to visit with us and don't have a way, please contact us.
Lighthouse Baptist Church records each service in various formats. DVDs, and CDs, are available for anyone not able to attend services or just wishing a copy. We ask $2 per disc simply to cover the costs of supplies. Sermons and Special Music are also available on our website to listen to our download at your leisure.
- DVDs. We can fit up to 3 sermons on a disc.
- CDs. We can fit up to 80 minutes on one disc. This usually works out to 1 sermon per CD.
- MP3 CD. You can download and/or listen online to our sermons in MP3 format for no charge. You are also free to burn these sermons UNEDITED to a disc of your own. We can make you an MP3 disc if you choose. An MP3 CD will hold up to 700 Mb of data. That usually works out to about 15 sermons.
- MP3 Data DVD. An MP3 data DVD will hold 4.7 Gb of data.
Lighthouse Baptist Church is engaged in a Nursing Home Ministry with Manor Care Nursing Facility in Waterloo. About twice a month we sing hymns with the patients and staff and open the Word of God with them and show them that they too can be guaranteed a home in Heaven. What a wonderful way to encourage the older folks in the faith and lead souls to the Saviour! We have had the chance to point souls the the Saviour within a short of time prior to them entering eternity.
Sunday School, Junior Church, Children's Special Singing, Teen Group... These are just a few ministries that we offer for children and students
Ladies' Ministries
The ladies meet under Mrs. Davis' direction. Activities include ladies' day out as well as helping to fix food and serve it during fellowship dinners. We men are very grateful for that! That also have a yearly Mother/Daughter luncheon.
A.C.E. Home School Support Group
Several of our members home school using the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) curriculum. Any student (or parent of a student) who is being home-schooled with the help of the A.C.E program can contact Mrs. Davis with questions or assistance. They also enjoy various field trips throughout the school year.
Lighthouse Baptist Camp
The camp that the youth had been attending the last few years is now a part of Lighthouse Baptist Church and is now a ministry of our church. Every summer our youth have the opportunity to attend a camp where they are away from the world for a week. There is preaching, singing, and lots of good times. Some of things you will not find there are things like TV, movies, worldly music, and so much more that has an impact on our youth of today. This is a chance for them to meet with God and have God and have Him make some wonderful changes in their lives.
